Busy Week

Hello...... well that was a busy week!

Job application completed at the beginning of the week which took about 4 hours!!

A trip to Bristol on Thursday for a training course..... isn't it sad that we have to be trained on how to deal with angry customers. We were told about body language so we could work out if we were going to be attacked!!!! What is the world coming too..... *shakes head*

And to top it all off I've been busy making red, white & blue things!!!

I've just popped the bunting & bunting brooches in my shop if you want to take a peep!!

I'm getting ready for Crikey Queenie It's Vintage on Saturday 2nd June

Now back to work, another 6 days until my next day off, not liking that!!!

To remember the 70th anniversary of the Exeter Biltz I was invited to a special event at the Cathedral

I was helping out with Make Do and Mending.... of course!

We had a lovely day & I really enjoyed teaching children to knit.

April 2012

Well what a lovely month April was..... we even had some sunshine at the beginning of the month!!

A trip to Bridport, lucky finds at the boot sale, The Sound of Music & giveaways!!!

May has started well too...

My fascinator made at Make, Do and Mend last night.

Then today we both headed in to town to see the lady herself!!

She was even on the big screen....

It was worth the 2 hours of standing in the cold to get in the front row..... even though we were pushed about a bit at the end!!!

We even had some German tourist taking photo's of us...... wonder why??

Hope you've all had a good week.

It's been a bit eventful for me. A call from the company on Monday re the job I didn't get..... one of my friends had made comments on their FB page about why we thought I didn't get the job. They traced it back to me & called.... *gulp*..... be warned people big brother is really watching you!

It gave me great pleasure to unlike their FB page!!! I won't mention any names in case I get in more trouble but if I say it's my favourite shop you'll know who I mean!! I'm very surprised & disappointed by them :(

OH came back from Majorca on Tuesday..... at least I've eaten well this week!

On Friday in a fit of madness I finished work & we ended up in Bristol to watch a band! It seemed a good idea at the time but getting up at 6am the next day for work was not fun!!!

So it's been an odd week but I also won 2 giveaways...... yes that's right 2!!

I've wanted this sewing tin for a while so jumped at the chance to enter.... I never thought I'd win for one minute!! The book is lovely & the brooch...... wow... it's great! Also include was some chocolates.... all gone now!!

Days off

As you know last week I went to Bridport market..... I was going to share my goodies but the moment has past now! But I did want to share this......

This building took my breath away when we turned the corner..... yes it's a bit of a mess but you don't see buildings like this any more. The sign in the window says it's opening as a '50's diner soon...... if you live in or visit Bridport please let me know when it opens so I can go back!

This morning I set off to the boot sale

And very glad I did too!

I needed a phone case for my new iPhone 4 that OH gave me but I found lots of other goodies!!

This lovely little shell box..... my friend fell in love with them in the latest Cath magazine, they were £6 but not on the web or any shops we visited. I found a very small one in Lyme Regis last week for £1.20 but this one is much bigger & was only £1!! It has a little damage to one shell on the side but I'm sure she won't mind.

I was just walking away from the man when I spotted this....

I'm not a good sewer & I'm not sure I'll use it but for only £10 I thought it was a good buy. I could always sell it as it's never been used or even opened!

Talking about sewing take a look at this beauty...

I've wanted a manual sewing machine for a long time & this one was in perfect condition & working.

I got it for £30 which I thought was a good price. I'm trying to find out the age, there was one on the Jones website with a similar number dated 1925..... I thought 1930's so maybe not far out.

I spotted another for sale all rusty & the handle wouldn't turn.... someone was buying it for £30 too!

I've given it a go but the needle keeps unthreading, any ideas why?

And last but not least

A beautiful Jubilee rug!!

I nearly didn't buy it but my brother made me go back.

I have no home for it but hey it'll fit in somewhere!

Isn't odd how you can visit one week & buy nothing & the next there's everything you've ever wanted??!

Thankfully we had the pushchair

Which meant poor Matthew had to walk!

I was off yesterday & today so 2 out of 4 isn't bad!

On Thursday me & my special friend Helen decided very last minute to go to see this..

It was fab...... although the songs were mixed up & they added bits which I thought was a bit wrong!

Me & Helen giggled lots, sang & even danced!

It was just what I needed after a rubbish day :(

I found out I didn't get the job I went for...... this was not just any job, this was my dream job..... the job I've been wanting for about 14 years!!

I didn't get it because I didn't have enough experience!!! Didn't even get the assistant job........ they found someone who fitted the store profile better..... mmm to me that sounds like I didn't look the part!

I'm gutted & it has changed my ideas of this well know company...... if I don't look good enough to work there then I'm not good enough to buy their stuff!!!!

Bridport......

I'm hoping to head to Bridport on Saturday with a friend from work...... does anyone know if the market will be on?

I've Googled it & some sites say the market will be cancelled in 2012, another says it's on the 2nd Saturday of the month & the last one said the vintage market is on the last Saturday of the month!!!

I'm confused!!!!

Is it worth giving up my one Saturday off to make the 3 hour journey there & back???

Please help!!!
