Crafty Sunday & new arrivals.....

Hello everyone.... hope you're having a good week.
Sorry for the long break in posting.....nothing to say & not a great week for me.

But I'm back for Crafty Sunday

This week I finally found the time to pop over to see my friends new baby...... now 2 week old!
So armed with my new gifts

I went to visit baby Smith

Not a great photo, he'd had lots of visitors that night & was trying to take a nap!

Me & Liv made our own fun whilst everyone was cooing over the new baby....

Yey she can knit!!! I thought she was too young but someone had brought her a knitting kit so we gave it ago, it was slow work but she did it & I'm very proud of her :)
She wants to knit squares to make a blanket for her brother......what a great idea....but after 2 hours we had completed 5 rows over 24 stitches! mmmmm must get quicker!

This week I've been busy crafting.....

Making bears for Folksy & future fairs plus some little gifts for my giveaway & my kind friend who lent me her apron for last weekend....no photo's as I haven't posted them yet & I don't want to ruin the surprise!
I've also been playing around with some red & white wool for a new idea I'm trying out, hope to have photo's next week.

So that's all for crafty Sunday this week......what have you made?

Back soon

Dig for Victory

Hello everyone.......how are we all?

I've been really enjoying reading people's grow your own stories, I love the fact we get so excited about eating our own bounty!! It's great isn't it??

I've been growing my own on & off for about 15 years & although I say I won't do it next year (because of the terrible summers we have) I always go back to it!

So with this in mind I thought I'd share a few pictures of my garden......

Main bed with runner beans, courgettes, mint, strawberries & lemon balm

I don't do pretty gardens ..... just practical!

Plenty of tomatoes....just need them to go red now!

Cor blimey look at those grapes!!! Bumper crop this year I think

Cucumbers doing very well outside - the 2nd year I've grown them

What's for tea???

Just to prove it's not all veg.....I'm loving the Pom Pom's this year :)

I just wanted to share this photo of Gandy street in Exeter which I smapped on my way to work early one morning......see the bunting?
I've just updated the Make, Do and Mend blog. Pop over to read about our Summer Outing on Saturday night.

That's all for the weekend...back soon

Giveaway

Sorry I'm a day late......

So do you want to know who won?

Are you ready???

Drum roll....

Suzie

(I'm afraid I couldn't get the number generator image on my blog so please trust me!)

I'm so happy it's Suzie as she regularly leaves me comments & has had a hard time of late.....still thinking of you Suzie :(

Please email me your address & I promise to send it ASAP.

Don't panic if you missed out this time as I'll be having another giveaway for my 200th post, which isn't far away.

So Crafty Sunday on a Monday.....

I've finished my friends gift....

What do you think?
She wanted a traditional gift so I'm hoping this fits the bill......it's to go with the granny square blanket I showed you 2 weeks ago.
It was a labour of love as I didn't really have a pattern.....just a mix of everything.
She finally had him on Thursday 29th but I haven't seen him yet. Not sure of his name but I do know he was 8lb 2oz which is very large for her!!!

Busy week this week.....

We also have our summer outing on Saturday which I'm really looking forward too......photo's to follow.
Have a good week

Show and Tell Sunday

This month is your Favourite Holiday Destination hosted by Justine.

Mine is C'an Pastilla in Mallorca.
We've been visiting the little fishing village since 1997 since we stumbled across it by accident.

We never stay for long, the longest time was 10 days, it's always a bit of a flying visit...any thing from 2 - 4 nights. I always find it really hard to find someone to look after the cats so never go away for long....it also means we used to go more often.

It's not everyone's cup of tea but for us it's perfect, like slipping on an old pair of slippers! From landing we can be at the hotel within 20 mins, this is the view from the hotel we stay in.

There are lots of ex pats but it does have a nice mix and I feel safe to walk the street alone.
Over the years we have made friends with several bar owners so we always get a warm welcome.

To celebrate my 29th birthday we had a lovely meal in the Spanish restaurant over looking the bay.....

Blimey that was 10 years ago!!!!

We had a fantastic weekend there about 5 years ago just before Christmas.....it was so perfect, I had 5 days off from work the weekend before Christmas (very rare in retail!), we travelled to London on the Friday to see The Men They Couldn't Hang before flying out on Saturday morning. We spent Saturday & Sunday relaxing it the warm....unheard of in December!..... before flying back to London on Monday to see The Pogues. It was the best Christmas present ever.

I've was unable to go back for 3 years due to the cats being old & ill but last October I took the plunge & went for 2 night......

You can read about it here.

I must confess this wasn't the best time, I was very worried Zoe wouldn't be here when I got back so never really relaxed. May be it's time to go back now she's gone but I still have Nanny to worry about!!!

OH is planning on moving there in September, he'll be there 3 out of 4 weeks.....and who can blame him! At least I'll have a holiday home!

So that's mine......what's yours?

Next month Show & Tell is Sunday 5th September......does anyone want to host it?

I'll be back later today to announce the winner of my giveaway.

Bah Humbugs!!!!!

No not Christmas......I'm talking about a fantastic on line sweet shop I've found.
Does the picture above bring back any memories???
aahhh happy days when a Curly Wurly made you happy :)

And remember this???
We used to call it Space Dust......I'm not sure if that's a Southern name. Hours of fun was had with this.

And my favourite.....

Sweet Peanuts....... I can remember going to the sweet shop on a Sunday lunch time (it only used to open for about an hour) & getting a 1/4 of these. So sticky they would clump together.....don't leave them too long or you'll never get them out of the bag!!!! Not a problem I had :)

Check out the web site here.....

Bah Humbugs

and take a walk down memory lane......now I just have to decide which ones to buy!!!

For all you Northern ladies they are based in Ripon so you might fancy a visit. I visited Ripson in 1987....it was lovely.....I always thought I'd go back so this could be the reason!

It made me chuckle when I saw they had also been featured at the start of Emmerdale.....see how nice the shop looks.

mmmm enough about sweets for one night....don't forget you still have time to enter my giveaway.....

Back on Sunday with Show and Tell & to draw the winner.

Giveaway.....

Yay I've finally made it to 100 followers.....& about bloomin' time too!!!
Now you just watch someone leave....hahaha!
Thanks to Claire for coming out of the wood work & Lou for being the 100th :)

So it's time for the giveaway......

All you have do to is leave a comment on this post before Sunday 1st August & of course you need to be a follower.
I'll announce the winner using the generic number thingy on Sunday in my Show & Tell post.

So Crafty Sunday......well this week I have been crafty but I have nothing to show you just yet.
As I said last week I started a new gift for my friends baby (still not here yet) but it's not finished. I also went to The Craft Hub's 1st craft night on Wednesday & nearly finished a bear...popular those little bears :)

I've also been busy this week with Make, Do and Mend.
After leaving the Handmade Home Fair (more about that another day) I can now focus all my attention on this. I've learnt you can do too many things at once! During the summer evening classes/groups are always very quite but I need to get sorted for the Autumn term.

We have a summer outing booked & some great ideas for Christmas.
